LOCATION LAT/LONG 56.7708, -4.7905, NN 296 678 LR Map 41
Staoineag bothy is perched on a rocky pinnacle above the meandering Abhainn Rath, west of the West Highland Railway Line which runs from Corrour Station to Tummel Bridge. The name derives from the Old Norse ‘stein’ meaning stone, and John Matheson, one of the last stalkers to live in the cottage until his death in 1922, referred to it as ‘Stoniag’
